Souffler mes bougies - Gâteaux d'anniversaire

Initially, Lightbody is a Scottish company founded in 1871 by John Lightbody. It is still in operation. The family business, which enjoys a solid reputation in the UK, supplies celebration cakes and pastries across the country.

In 2002, Philippe and Valérie Stretz decided to set up Lightbody Europe in France, and more specifically in Rennes, Brittany. Charmed by Lightbody’s ‘celebration cakes’, they decided to sell birthday cakes for both adults and children.

The cake range is developing rapidly with the new Disney and Marvel licenses (approximately 30 licenses active to date). Mickey Mouse, Spider-Man, or Rapunzel, Cinderella and Belle now adorn the birthday cakes.

Currently, the company has twenty employees who strive to help you and offer you extraordinary birthday cakes that will make your child’s birthday party unforgettable.

2002: Creation of Lightbody Europe

Philippe Stretz brings the celebration cakes to the French market.

After signing a number of agreements with Disney and Marvel, a first range of celebration cakes is developed and is distributed in supermarkets.

2008: Lightbody Europe races on with the characters from Cars

Boys will discover Lightbody’s new birthday cakes featuring their favourite characters: Lightning McQueen and Mater the Tow Truck. They are very easy to place on the cakes without slipping or displacing a single chocolate chip!

2009: A changed and improved cake recipe

A team of experts has been dedicated to fine-tuning the taste of our cakes. The cake ranges are very similar to their British counterparts. However, the French have different tastes. The sugar level has been changed and the sponge cake recipe is now lighter.

2014: Lightbody Europe takes on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The new license is used on our chocolate birthday cakes and the children just love it. Coming soon in stores, the cakes featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will have sugar paste decorations…

Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael and Leonardo are trading their pizzas for chocolate cake!

Our expertise in baking birthday cakes falls within our desire to present children with healthy, tasty cakes featuring their favourite Disney and Marvel characters. Children like innovation and we are fully aware of this. Birthday parties are special occasions in a child’s life, so we strive to provide a cake that they won’t forget!

They are available in supermarkets across France, Belgium and Luxembourg. The recipe that is so popular with children is a fine combination of a chocolate ganache filling, a soft sponge cake and a perfect icing over the entire cake, supplemented with the sugar paste decoration representing our children’s heroes.
